The GSA is a national multidisciplinary, voluntary and non-profit group of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, Mathematicians and any person interested in promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Formed in 1958, it has continued to provide the scientific community from the Universities, Research Institutions, Industry and Government the opportunity to share scientific information among themselves and with others and to propel their energies for the socio-economic development of Ghana.

VISION
To become a dominant voice in Science and Technology advocacy by promoting and popularizing Science and Technology to meet national developmental needs.
MISSION
Advancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through interaction and cross-fertilization of ideas of all interested people to:
- Popularize, promote and disseminate scientific information and technology transfer for national development.
- Contribute to the development of national Science and Technology policy.
- Collaborate with industry to set national research agenda.
- Establish linkages with industry to promote the transfer and application of Science.
- Seek affiliation and foster cooperative links with other national and international organizations.
POLICY OBJECTIVES
The main policy objectives of the GSA are to:
- Encourage scientific and technological research that contributes to socio-economic development of Ghana. [S]
- Promote the understanding of science and technology through formal and informal education to the rudiments of everyday life. [S]
- Promote relevant technology transfer to industry and other end users [S]
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of national policy in science and technology. [M]
- Seek affiliation and foster cooperative links with other national and international organizations. [M]
- Commercialize research findings and technology to promote economic development. [L]
- Develop strategies and effective mechanisms to track and evaluate the impact of short-term and long-term effects of under-resourcing national institutions involved in S & T research. [L]
Activities
The activities of the GSA include:
- Organisation of national conferences and workshops
- Organisation of public lectures, seminars and symposia etc
- Publication of scientific books, journals and magazines
- Organisation of national quiz contests
- Participation in programmes to improve the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in schools and training colleges.
- Writing of scientific feature articles for publication in the print media
